Conference for Orphans and Widows in Belarus

In April of 2019 in Minsk, Belarus, a Conference for Orphans and Widows took place for 28 widows and 14 orphans under 17 years old from Minsk, Brest, Mogilyov, Vitebsk and Gomel regions. Brother Aleksandr Lotarev, Vice-President of Belarus Baptist Union took part in the conference. Two seminars were offered to the widows: “God’s Promises to Widows and Orphans” and “Widow that Is Serving God”. All widows and orphans at the conference also received material support, enjoyed a dinner and all their travel and lodging expenses were paid as many arrived to the Conference from hundreds of kilometers by trains or buses.
Senior Sisters-Widows were also visited – those who have been in this ministry for all 20 years. Some material support was left with them to be distributed to the widows who were unable to be at the conference.
Two messages on the “Pure and Faultless Religion” were delivered in two largest churches in Minsk on the topic of caring for widows from the Scripture. For many, this ministry was very new and unknown and they were very thankful for being able to plug into it.
Senior Sisters-Widows shared with the younger ones on the path they have already covered in their lives – raising children, upholding the house and participating in ministry without their husbands’ help. Widows shared their own testimonies of the Lord’s faithfulness and of importance of prayer and faith in their life. These testimonies comforted and encouraged them very much.
Sister Natalia from Brest regions with three little kids shared her need – shoes for two of her children as the old ones were falling apart. She remembered praying about this in Psalm 121 and trying to decide if she wants to buy those shoes or keeps food on the table as there were not enough money for both. And the Lord answered here prayer – she received enough material support at the conference to buy two pairs of shoes for her boys and a new dress for her daughter.
Sister Anya with three children (5, 7 and 10) from Gomel shared about her life without her husband for the last four years. It was very important for her to meet with other widows and learn from them about the Lords mercy and care for widows at the conference. She expressed here gratitude to everybody who took part in the conference and gave and delivered material support to her and other widows and orphans.
Sister Lyuba from Minsk with four little children (7, 9, 11 and 13) praised the Lord for answering her prayers at the conference. Her husband passed away only a year ago and it was still an open wound. She especially appreciated meeting and sharing with older widows and to learn from them about the special calling of widows to the ministry they can be involved in.
Sister Galina with four children from a village in Mogilyov region thanked God for the invitation to the conference where she arrived with a particular prayer need – firewood for cooking in the house: “The Lord heard my prayer and today I received the material aid from your, good people, for which I will be able to buy that firewood. Thank you and may the Lord bless you!”
Dear Brothers and Sisters, it is truly amazing how God answers the prayers of widows and orphans through your giving and support. They are wholeheartedly thank you for that.
