Dear Brothers and Sisters! Dear Friends,
In November 2019 two conferences were held for widows and orphans of the Republic of Belarus. In the city of Minsk 12 widows and 27 orphans under 16 gathered from Minsk, Vitebsk, Gomel and Mogilyov regions. Seminars and fellowship sessions were conducted for them in cooperation with the Deputy Senior Chairman of Belarus Baptist Union pastor Aleksandr Lotarev.
In the city of Brest, a widow by the name of Anna whose husband passed away three years ago leaving her with four little children shared how the Lord encouraged all of them in the middle of their grief. She noticed how important it is not to fall into despair and into self-pity but to always find those who are in a more difficult situation and to help them.
A widow from the city of Ivanovo (Brest region) by the name of Irina whose husband was a pastor and tragically died on a construction site, was left with three little children. She was very glad and pleased to meet other sisters who are in the same circumstances. The supported and comforted each other with the comfort they received from the Lord. Irina shared how she prayed to God for providing her with funds to dress her children for the winter and the conference became a real answer to this prayer.
A widow from Gomel by the name of Svetlana with four little children was very pleased by the invitation to the conference and was especially surprised by the material support she received there. Her children badly needed shoes and boots for the season.
Sister Yelena with four girls of 2, 5, 7 and 9 years old whose husband passed away this summer from brain tumor, shared her gratitude to God for both spiritual and material support that will help her to by her children appropriate clothes for the winter. She praised the Lord for moving peoples’ hearts to helping widows and orphans. She noted that thanks to God she does not feel herself resentful and that she is moved to be of help towards others.
In the city of Brest, a non-believing widow was invited to the conference by her friend and was pleasantly surprised by the care widows receive it our churches. She and her children were also visited by pastors in her home. She was very grateful for all the assistance and for the prayers for her family.
All widows received both spiritual and material support. Their train and bus tickets to/from the conference were paid for and meals were provided throughout the day of the conference.
Dear brothers and sisters in America, we want to thank all of you who gave joy to widow’s heart (Job 29:13). Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
